Spending Halloween In Crested Butte

Halloween is one of those holidays that brings out the kid inside all of us. It’s the perfect excuse to dress up in the most charming or scary outfits out there. Almost all countries around the world have this special holiday, with of course, their own version.

Here in Crested Butte, one can visit the “Pumpkin Patch” which is famous for its maze trail for families and friends to work together and bond as they make their way out. There are an abundance of things to do here, but the best has to be the pumpkin hunt for the kiddies to enjoy.
Another really popular thing to do leading up to Halloween, is the KBUT event, the highly anticipated Zombie Prom, on October 25th, from 9 PM to 2 AM. This is for everyone to dress up in their most ghoulish outfits, to dance and party the night out.
On October 31st, at 4:30 pm on First and Elk, is the Halloween Fright Parade or rather the “Howl-O-Ween Fright Parade” as locals call it. This annual free event is also sponsored by KBUT and the CB library, for everyone, especially the kids to enjoy. Dress up in your most elaborate and exciting costumes and let the kids collect up candies as they march along Elk Avenue.
If you’re more into the darker side of Halloween, there are a lot of scary ghost stories around town. Since the town has a lot of rich history, it also has its fair share of haunted places. The Haunted Forest Queen Hotel, and the Hitchhiker at the Cemetery are a couple of creepy stories that add up to the character of Colorado’s mining town. I believe there is going to be a winter Historic Walking Tour that is about $10 per person. I personally have taken the tour, and it was amazing. Not only will you take a deeper dive about some of the most scariest places in the town but you will learn so much more of what the community has to offer. Click on The Crested Butte’s Historic Walking Tour article we have on our site to learn more about this.
All of what I mentioned are a sliver of how exciting Halloween is to us, and we would love to see you here during this holiday. Interested in visiting our community? Then click on our Winter 2019 GUC Flight Schedule article to help you have an idea on how to come here.
